Has anyone watched this?
I'm not sure what made me want to watch it, but I was scrolling through Netflix trying to find something that looked interesting. And it was the thing. Not my usual kind of show AT ALL. I watched the entire series in 2 days.
It's a weird experience to watch, because I remember bits and pieces of the actual events.
I don't remember much about the actual murders, but I vividly remember watching the "high" speed chase. I was home from Fundy U for the summer after finishing my freshman year. I worked for Merry Maids that summer, cleaning houses. I remember coming home at the end of a hot day of hard work, and being transfixed in front of the tv for the remainder of the night still in my dirty sweaty uniform.
As for the actual trial, I was at Fundy U for much of it. The summer after my sophomore year, I remember watching some of the trial on TV. I remember the gloves. Who can forget the gloves?? But I went back to Fundy U before the verdict. My mom called me to tell me the verdict, (which is how I found out about most of the major events that happened while I was at Fundy U.)
So watching the series was so interesting. There was so much that I didn't know. So much deception, and things that just seemed too crazy to even be real. But, apparently it is a pretty accurate assessment of the events.
The last episode, the one where the verdict was given, it was pretty emotional. Did you know that neither Marcia Clark nor Christopher Darden ever tried another case? There was a scene near the end, where Clark told Darden about why she became a prosecuting attorney. It made me sad. Sometimes justice just isn't going to happen.
But the acting (for the most part) is incredible. I found Cuba Gooding Jr a little bit too gentle natured and whiney to be a good representation of OJ.
