Jerusalem and a changing tidal direction - myotch - 01-07-2018

From NYT https://mobile.nytimes.com/2018/01/06/world/middleeast/egypt-jerusalem-talk-shows.html?referer=https://www.redstate.com/streiff/2018/01/06/arabs-world-palestinians-maybe-dont-really-need-jerusalem-capital/ :

Quote:“How is Jerusalem different from Ramallah, really?” [Egyptian Intelligence officer ]Captain Kholi asked repeatedly in four audio recordings of his telephone calls obtained by The New York Times.

Quote:But now a de facto alliance against shared foes such as Iran, the Muslim Brotherhood, Islamic State militants and the Arab Spring uprisings is drawing the Arab leaders into an ever-closer collaboration with their one-time nemesis, Israel — producing especially stark juxtapositions between their posturing in public and private.

Realities on the ground seem to be negating a dead horse, lost cause issue.  At some point, the hard-fought Palestinian independence will have to show some independence and the ability to govern themselves and their people in their own current situation.

Fascinating!

There are no straight line solutions. Actually in the Middle East there may not be any solutions, period.

Just evolving alliances of mutual interest. Nothing to do with who is wrong and who is right, but more a mutual "what we are willing to live with -for now."
