@BurkeCNN

I’ve covered religion for a long time. Never heard anyone use the Holy Family to defend statutory rape before. Almost surreal.

@jaketapper
Alabama auditor defends accusation Roy Moore at 32 had sexual contact with a 14 year old girl by saying “Mary was a teenager and Joseph was an adult carpenter. They became parents of Jesus.”

His theology is off. Doesn't he know that Jesus was the son of God, and not Joseph?

I just love how the Republicans are taking the high road and “distancing” themselves. They’re distancing themselves, because politics. But, I’m cynical and distrusting of politicians in general, so don’t mind me.

Tribal politics. The candidate gets attacked, wagons will circle.

The timing of the allegations make them highly suspect.

Jim Zeigler's comment is ridiculous, in the truest sense of the word.

Not to mention, very wrong theologically ... perhaps even heresy?

If he actually means Joseph was Jesus' father... absolute heresy.  If he really means Joseph was the earthly father of Jesus (like a step-father so to speak), then not heresy, but still an extremely ridiculous analogy to use.

Theologically speaking, Joseph didn’t schtup Mary... (for my Protty friends: ) ...at least until after Jesus was born...

I feel kind of guilty committing any part of that thought together to a post, so there’s that.

Anyway, the accusation for Moore involves a lot of adult-on-pubescent schtupping.

I don't think there's any accusations of schtupping are there?

Let's be forreal though, do you guys really think Moore will lose cause of this? It's Alabama.
